Sunrise Bed and Breakfast has been Eco-Friendly STAR Accredited
and implements environmentally friendly practices.
It is important to us to help reduce our impact on the planet, but still ensure a quality
experience for our guests at Sunrise Bed & Breakfast.
Following is a brief list of our actions to date. Should you wish to know more about any of

Architecturally designed with importance placed on location of "Sunrise" Building with natural ventilation and heating being part of the design process.
Worm Farm Waste System operates odour free and without chemical processes.
All house water, some food scraps, some paper and cardboard is disposed of in the worm farm.
Metal, plastics and glass are sorted and collected by Cessnock City Council as part of the garbage service.
The "girls" recycle food scraps as part of their food and produce quality eggs for breakfast.
Two roof mounted solar hot water heating systems.
Water is stored in a 150,000 litre tank.
2.1kilowatts back to grid solar system which will potentially eliminate production of more thank 2 tonnes of Co2 greenhouse gases annually.
Water saving features installed in all plumbing.
Low energy lighting throughout and sensors on all external lighting.
Dam water is used for lawn and garden watering and mulch is used on the gardens to reduce evaporation.
Rooms are cleaned with diluted eucalyptus oil solutions.
More than 1500 trees have been planted along the creek with more than 2000 additional trees and shrubs being planted on the property - ongoing.
